VSH Volunteers at Bellingham Food Bank
In 2016, VSH created a new philanthropic initiative, VSH Volunteer Day. In July 2016 staff from VSH along with accounting students in the community, kicked off the first annual VSH Volunteer Day by sorting non-perishable foods at the Bellingham Food Bank. Staff and students volunteered 51 total man hours, and sorted a total of 6,500 pounds of food for the Food Bank clients!
VSH Provides Junior Leadership
Beginning in 2015 at the annual Spring Banquet, VSH will provide one Junior from Western Washington University’s accounting program a $1500 scholarship towards their education. VSH is proud to have many Vikings on our staff, and we look forward to many years of partnership with WWU and their accounting undergraduate and MPAC (Masters in Professional Accounting) programs.
VSH Participates in Workplace CSA Program
As a partner in Sustainable Connections, VSH became a Workplace CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) site for its employees for the fifth year. Staff members can buy shares through Dandelion Organic Delivery to receive weekly boxes of fresh local organic produce. Additionally in 2016, VSH added fresh fruit delivery to our offices so our staff could enjoy more fresh and nutritious snacks during our busy season.
VSH Sponsors WWU Business Forum
VSH is proud to be a Mount Shuksan Table Sponsor at the $2,000 level ($1,600 in scholarship funds for a Whatcom County student). VSH is proud of our partnership with Western and their stellar accounting department which has provided our team with smart, ethical and responsible employees for many years, and many years to come. Go Vikings!
VSH Team takes on Bellingham Traverse!
VSH Staff, again competed on the fifth annual Team VSH in the 2015 Bellingham Traverse on Saturday, Sept. 19th. VSH had a great race and enjoyed being part of this event again. We were honored to be a part of the marketing videos for the race as well! Check them out here.
The multisport race consists of two bike legs, two running legs and a kayak leg to symbolize the impressive run of the salmon from fresh river water, through the open ocean and back again. The Traverse event supports the community by highlighting and raising money for local and regional organizations. Team VSH is proud to be one of this year’s “Spawnsers.” Click here for more information on the Bellingham Traverse.
VSH Holiday Party to Raise Funds for Charity
VSH’s annual holiday party on Dec. 5th raised funds for the Agape Home, part of Lighthouse Mission Ministries. The Agape Home provides a stable, nurturing environment for women and women with children to escape victimization, hopelessness and addiction. VSH will provide the prize, and all staff and spouses who attend will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets, with all proceeds going directly to the Agape House. In 2013, recipients included, Shelter Box, providing emergency relief such as tents, water filtration and blankets to the Philippines, and Animals as Natural Therapy, an organization who helps participants develop essential relationship skills with the help of an animal partner and human mentor.
